Board Chair Responsibilities


Purpose of the seat:

Provides strategic leadership for ODPF, presides over board meetings, and serves as the public face of the organization alongside the Executive Director/Founder.


Core duties:


• Lead and facilitate all board meetings
• Set board agendas in partnership with the Executive Director
• Represent ODPF at public events, donor meetings, and partnership conversations
• Mentor and guide other board members
• Sign legal and financial documents requiring board chair authority
• Drive board accountability — ensures every board member is contributing


Ideal candidate:

Prior board leadership experience (chair, vice chair, or senior committee role), strong professional network in Texas, executive presence, comfortable with public-facing representation.


Time commitment:

6–8 hours per month (board meetings, Executive Director check-ins, occasional public representation)


Term:

6-months to 1 year term, renewable


Key expectations:

Active championship of Open Door Pathway Foundation in personal and professional networks; willingness to make a personal financial contribution at a leadership level; full availability for monthly virtual board meetings.
