Director of Treasurer Responsibilities
Purpose of the seat:
Provides financial leadership for ODPF and ensures the long-term fiscal health and accountability of the organization. The Treasurer serves as the board's primary financial steward and works in close partnership with the Founder and President/CEO to safeguard every dollar entrusted to the mission.
Core duties:
• Lead financial oversight of the Foundation by reviewing monthly statements, budgets, and cash flow
• Present clear, accurate financial reports at every board meeting and translate the numbers into plain language for non-finance directors
• Partner with the President/CEO on financial planning, annual budgeting, reserves, and strategic investments
• Ensure timely filing of IRS Form 990, the annual audit when required, and all other federal and state financial filings
• Approve banking access, signatory authority, and internal financial controls in coordination with the Board
• Champion fiscal responsibility and transparency in every board decision involving the Foundation's resources
Ideal candidate:
A finance professional, ideally with nonprofit financial experience. The Treasurer should be confident with budgets, reporting, and financial controls, comfortable presenting financials to colleagues without a finance background, and familiar with QuickBooks Nonprofit or similar accounting platforms.
Time commitment:
6–8 hours per month including monthly board meetings, regular check-ins with the President/CEO, ongoing financial review, and quarterly deeper financial reviews.
Term:
6-months to 1 year term, renewable
Key expectations:
Active and hands-on financial review of the Foundation's finances. Availability for monthly virtual board meetings, with strong attention to detail and a steady, calm approach to financial decision-making.
